You made it out. You always knew you had to, and now you’re free. Take a minute to congratulate yourself because it took courage, smarts, and bucketfuls of gumption.

Maybe you were raised under a rock, home-schooled, in a cult (there’s a lot of us out there, you’re not alone), and you escaped with fear and trembling wondering if you were losing your soul.  (Hint: your soul will be all the better for escaping, and God is not going to destroy you).

Or maybe your perfectly normal family sheltered you a wee bit too much, which meant you needed a chainsaw to cut those apron strings and now you’re not sure where to go from here.

Maybe you had to escape for your life, literally. Maybe the violence and pain finally got to be too much and you needed to get out NOW.

Or maybe you were just a normal kid with a normal home, with the normal childhood and normal growing up. But now that you’re out of school and on your own, you feel a little lost because there’s all kinds of shit no one ever taught you.

It doesn’t matter how or why or when you left the nest (or cage), it matters that it was the right time for you to do the right thing for you.

So… welcome! Adulting is doable with a little help from Google, a pinch of common sense, and a lot of curiosity. I hope this repository of adulting info gives you some helpful directions for the journey.

Above all, the hardest part is getting started. From there on, you have SO got this!

“‘It’s a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don’t keep your feet, there’s no knowing where you might be swept off to.”

-J.R.R Tolkien
